How do we plan on
changing
the world???? We're not sure if it will work, but here
goes....
maybe you
can help.
We like making
music, and if
you've made it this far, you like the music we make. It
seems like a
match made in heaven... so why would we let money come between
us???
Def Karaoke Jam's music will ALWAYS be FREE, no matter what.
Of course, we're not represented by a big mean record label.
We're not looking for a record deal. Instead, we're looking for
people who like funny songs and free shit. In the end, we'd like
to have our music reach the masses in a way that no artist has ever done
before; by word of mouth and not charging a penny for it... ever.
Here's where you come in....
Download an mp3 from our download section right now and put it on
your
iPod. Then tell a friend or 2 that you're a fan.
That's it.
If
you want to REALLY help us, please buy a t-shirt and rock it with
pride.
Our Bio
Def Karaoke Jam is an American Rock and Roll band
recording and performing original music in the DC / Baltimore locale.
In an era faced with global warming, economic recession, war, and
Nickelback, the band's mission is to deliver aggressive rock music with a
humorous vocal perspective that still rings true with emotion.
The heart and soul of the band is DJ Tanner, a sharp-witted lyricist,
musician, and turntablist that has performed and
recorded with DC R&B act,
Slipdisk
. He
formed Def Karaoke Jam in 1996, and has served as the primary songwriter
throughout.
Every song is written from the
ground up with no samples. The sound is a perversion of acoustic guitar
progressions, hip hop influences, and a mosaic of instrumentation to
create a cohesive whole. The 1998 album, DKJ vs.
the World, featured Tanner arranging and performing nearly every
instrument and vocal on the 8 song album. Subsequent recordings have
featured more extensive collaborations with several local musicians and
producers (see Faces of DEF)
DKJmusic.com
was launched as the official
website of the Def Karaoke Jam in 2008. The new website was soon
followed by the release of Use Your Illusion 3, a 2 song release.
Exactly 12 months later, the band released 2 new songs under the album
name of New Jersey. After completing their Beat It Off world tour in
early 2010, the band is back in the studio recording new material.
